Our Seafood Story... Why Rose Fisheries
Seafood is quite simply the best
We start with Wild Alaska Seafood
Our
fish and shellfish are the best of wild Alaska: natural and
pure. They swim free in the cold, clean waters of the North
Pacific, eating in the natural food chain and growing strong
and healthy. Chefs agree: wild Alaska seafood has the finest
gourmet flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture. Our salmon are
harvested on the open ocean, not during a strenuous upriver
journey to their spawning beds. These 'Ocean Brights' are at
the peak of health and vitality.
We handle our seafood with care and
respect, ensuring that this intrinsic high quality is preserved.
A Gentle Harvest
Fish are all harvested individually with hook and line. No nets
are used. We troll for salmon and longline for halibut, catching
each fish one at a time. Shellfish are harvested in baited pots.
These gentle harvest methods prevent the bruising and rough
handling seen in net-caught seafood.
State of the Art Processing
Once aboard the fishing vessel, the fish are cleaned meticulously,
then individually pressure-bled, a process that removes all
blood from the flesh. The fish are then flash-frozen at minus
40 degrees Fahrenheit within one hour of harvest. This rapid
freezing to such low temperatures essentially suspends metabolic
activity. When the fish is thawed weeks or months later, the
quality is that of a fish just minutes out of the water. Our
customers agree: our frozen salmon is the "freshest" you can
buy.
Clean and Safe
We are vigilant and uncompromising about food safety. We are
inspected regularly and follow HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical
Control Point) guidelines for cleanliness and sanitation.
Where else can you find seafood that comes with a guarantee?
We are so confident in the consistent outstanding quality of
our seafood that we back each purchase with a money-back guarantee.
We can do this because we are directly responsible for the care
and handling of the seafood from point of harvest until it is
shipped to the customer.
“F/V Rose frozen salmon is higher quality than fresh local salmon. The flavor is, of course, the typical wonderful wild salmon flavor. The texture is where this product really shines. Because it is blast frozen immediately after it is caught, its texture is better than fresh, local, never frozen salmon.”
